Site Entry is a full-screen value-exchange overlay on page load. The visitor watches a short ad, then they get the page.
Due to the viewability of this ad unit, it is the highest-CPM format. That performance comes from a real user-experience tradeoff: the overlay sits in front of the page until the visitor completes the short ad. Turn it on only if that behavior is acceptable for your audience.
Site Entry is a Google-approved format. It is not a policy-violating interstitial or an unauthorized ad wall.
How it works
On a pageview where Site Entry is eligible, Sulvo shows a centered modal over the page. Typical messaging is along the lines of "Unlock more content" or "View a short ad — instant access right after." The page behind the modal is dimmed or blurred.
The visitor chooses to watch a short ad. After that, they get the content. This is a value exchange, not an in-content display unit and not a between-page interstitial.
Site Entry is tagless. It does not use a body placement tag. The only implementation requirement is the Sulvo head tag on the page and for the unit to be activated.
Why it performs well
Site Entry is fully in view, on load, and the visitor has to complete the short ad to continue. Buyers pay more for that than for a below-the-fold in-content unit.
Expect a high CPM on this unit. Do not judge it only against a display slot's CPM. Also watch page RPM, bounce, and whether readers still move to the next page. A high unit CPM that hurts session depth can still lower site revenue.
User experience
Read this before you turn it on.
The overlay appears on page load, in front of the content.
The visitor cannot read the page until they complete the short ad (or leave).
The page behind the modal is dimmed or blurred.
This is optional on purpose. Some sites and audiences are a poor fit for an overlay on first view.
Tagless setup
Site Entry runs only on pages that already have the Sulvo head tag in <head>. There is no body tag to paste.
If the head tag is missing, in the body, duplicated, lazy-loaded, or loaded through another ad server, Site Entry will not run and will not be measured on that page.
For WordPress placement of the head tag, see Installing Sulvo Tags on WordPress with Ad Inserter.
How to turn it on
Confirm the Sulvo head tag is live on the pages you want Site Entry to run.
Open Inventory.
Create a Site Entry Unit.
Limit it first by device or page set if you want a smaller test.
Leave it on for about a week and compare RPM, not only the unit CPM.
You do not add a second snippet to the page. Creating the unit in Inventory is enough once the head tag is present.
Do not stack it with other full-screen units
Two full-screen experiences on the same pageview race each other and both lose.
Turn off other offerwalls, AdSense vignettes, or third-party full-screen units on the pages where Site Entry is on.
When to skip it
Skip Site Entry, or keep it off, when:
An overlay on load is a poor fit for the audience or content.
You already run another full-screen unit you are not willing to turn off.
The Sulvo head tag is not on the templates you care about.
This unit is optional. High CPM is not a reason to put it on every page.
How to turn it off
Deactivate the Site Entry unit in your Sulvo dashboard. There is no body tag to remove.
Changes can take a short time to show. Clear site and browser cache, then test in an incognito window. If it still loads after you deactivate it, see Site Entry Unit Still Loading After Deactivation.
