Recover lost impressions with Unblocker

Consent Management requirements across the world continue to lower both ad rates and successfully sold impressions by significant amounts. Many consent modals end up functioning as quasi-ad blockers, including for site visitors that aren't using any ad blockers. To recover lost impressions, publishers can do two things:

  1. If you haven't already then consider using the Sulvo-managed, IAB and Google-Certified Consent Modal apply here

  2. Add the Sulvo Unblocker to the site, which helps to recover ad impressions when a visitor denies the initial consent or uses an ad blocker.

Both solutions are free of charge. Once implemented visitors that don't click “approve all” - or any visitor that outright blocks ads with an ad blocker- will receive a message asking for their “Consent or Pay”. The modal will prompt the visitor to reconsider their ad consent or contribute to the site with a micropayment ($0.01 per visit = $10 CPM).

Unblocker needs at least four (4) Sulvo-powered ad slots on the page to show its message.
To add or change your implementation, please choose your preferred integration type:

  1. Unblocker Lite is a hard wall. It is effective for the vast majority of visits. It is not bulletproof, however, as it is a separate piece of code that can be identified and blocked by certain message blockers.

  2. Unblocker (CDN) is also a hard wall. It works for websites that use Cloudflare as it requires integration over the CDN configuration. It cannot be blocked and provides complete protection for otherwise blocked ads. Unblocker CDN is currently in beta and requires manual approval.

Is Unblocker really free?

Yes. All contributions made directly with Unblocker are added directly to your monthly earnings.

When users disable their ad blocker, all your ads, not just Sulvo units, are able to earn revenue again. For a page to show Unblocker, you will need to have at least four (4) Sulvo ads (tagless stickies and interstitials are included in this count), that have served impressions in the last hour, on that page.

Where will I see revenue or results from Unblocker?

Unblocker helps in 2 major ways:

  1. by recovering ad revenue from ad blocking users

  2. by requesting contributions from users who refuse to view ads

Recovered ad revenue will be measured and reported with your usual earnings. Unblocker will be one of many influencing factors on your revenue numbers; the precise amount of revenue recaptured by Unblocker may not be easy to determine.
An estimate of direct contributions made through Unblocker will be visible in Sulvo, finalized contributions will be visible on the Relābe Income page as part of each month’s earnings.

Do I need a Coinbase account?

No, you do not need a Coinbase account for Unblocker.

Sulvo accepts the $0.01 USD (or local currency equivalent) Coinbase transfers on your behalf and reports them in the Unblocker Results tab here.

Can I use Unblocker if I have a Consent Management Platform (CMP) modal?

Yes. Unblocker will show before your CMP modal is shown. Once the user follows their chosen Unblocker action (disabling ad block or contributing to your site), the CMP modal will show. We recommend using Unblocker with Sulvo's CMP.

How can I remove Unblocker?

You can remove the Unblocker script from your site’s HTML anytime.
